EnviTec Anlagenbau has officially commissioned a landmark combined biogas and gas upgrading plant for Estonian dairy company Halinga OÜ, marking a major step forward in the country’s renewable energy and sustainability drive.
Located in Langerma, in the Pärnu region, the facility is the fourth gas upgrading plant delivered by the globally operating biogas specialist in Estonia — and the first fully integrated plant built by EnviTec in the country.
The project combines raw biogas production with EnviTec’s proven EnviThan membrane-based gas upgrading technology to transform agricultural residues into climate-friendly biomethane.
"Thanks to our proven and sustainable membrane-based gas upgrading technology, our customer decided to also entrust us with the raw biogas production for this project,” explains Roland Kurney, Project Manager at EnviTec Anlagenbau.
Officially opened on 16 June in Langerma, Põhja-Pärnumaa, the plant was delivered in just one year through close cooperation between Halinga OÜ and EnviTec Biogas. Halinga managed key aspects of the construction process, including civil works, building construction, site preparation and overall interface coordination.
"During the construction phase, the customer took responsibility for all civil works, building construction, site setup and overall interface management,” adds Kurney.
The new facility processes slurry and organic residues from Halinga’s dairy operations, producing approximately 600 Nm³ of biomethane per hour. The output will help replace fossil fuels in Estonia’s transport sector while creating a circular energy solution from agricultural waste.
