Air Liquide bets on Quobly to push quantum processors from lab to factory floor

The deal places the industrial gases giant directly inside the emerging supply chain for next-generation quantum processors

  • By ICN Bureau | June 05, 2026
Air Liquide has moved deeper into the race for industrial quantum computing, announcing an investment in French start-up Quobly through its corporate venture arm, ALIAD.

The deal places the industrial gases giant directly inside the emerging supply chain for next-generation quantum processors.

The investment is part of Quobly’s €115 million Series A round, joined by several leading investors. The funding will accelerate R&D, scale up industrial production efforts, and support the company’s international expansion.

Air Liquide will also contribute its industrial expertise to help transition Quobly’s technology from lab development to mass manufacturing, with a target of launching the first commercial product by the end of 2026.

Founded in 2022 in Grenoble, Quobly is building silicon-based quantum processors using established semiconductor manufacturing techniques. Its goal is to make quantum computing scalable, manufacturable, and commercially deployable—an effort aimed at moving the sector beyond experimental systems into industrial reality.

Beyond funding, ALIAD will act as a strategic industrial partner, giving Quobly access to Air Liquide’s expertise in advanced materials and specialty gases—key inputs in the fabrication of silicon quantum chips.

The partnership builds on Air Liquide’s existing role in the quantum ecosystem, where it already supplies ultra-pure gases and extreme cooling technologies needed to stabilize quantum processors and reduce errors during operation.

“Quantum computing represents the next major technological frontier. Quobly is pioneering the path toward scalable quantum processors, and this is exactly the kind of game-changing innovation Air Liquide looks for when supporting tech start-ups with a strong potential.

"We are proud to participate in this journey and to continue shaping the future," said Armelle Levieux, member of Air Liquide’s Executive Committee.
