UPL Ltd., a global provider of sustainable agricultural solutions, has been awarded the South Asia Innovation Award in agribusiness for the third time recognizing UPL as a top innovator.

The evaluation for the award is driven by metrics for patent volume (patents published) as well as patent quality (grant success rate, extent of globalization, and citations). This achievement reflects UPL’s longstanding commitment to driving transformative innovation to contribute to a sustainable and food-secure future, with the company boasting more than 1,400 patents and 14,000 registrations.

Dr. Vishal A. Sodha, Global Intellectual Property Head, said: “At UPL, we believe innovation can be a catalyst for creating real-world impacts. We are delighted that our continued commitment to nurturing sustainable technological development and driving farmer-centric solutions has been recognized for the third time by the Clarivate South Asia Innovation Award. Through our continuous research and development, we will build a resilient, prosperous, and sustainable farming system for generations to come.”

The award was conferred on UPL by Dr. Unnat P. Pandit, Controller General of Patents, Designs, and Trademarks from the Government of India. Clarivate announced the winners at the Innovation Forum held in Mumbai, India, on July 28, 2023.
