Messer is investing approximately US$40 million in two major projects in Thai Nguyen province, expanding its production network to meet surging demand from Vietnam’s electronics and semiconductor industries.
The world’s largest privately owned specialist gas company will build a new air separation plant at its existing Yen Binh site, with capacity to produce 600 tons per day of nitrogen, oxygen and argon.
At its Song Cong facility, Messer will also construct a nitrogen liquefaction plant capable of producing 300 tons per day.
Together, the projects will add 900 tons per day of production capacity, lifting Messer’s total capacity in northern Vietnam to 2,000 tons per day.
The expansion is designed to significantly boost supplies of liquid nitrogen to the region’s fast-growing electronics and semiconductor sectors, as foreign investment and major technology manufacturers continue to expand their operations in northern Vietnam.
The nitrogen liquefaction plant is scheduled to begin operations in mid-2027, followed by the air separation plant by the end of 2027.
Messer said the additional capacity will allow it to support existing customers while meeting demand from new industrial projects across the region.
“This strategic investment underlines Messer’s commitment to sustainable, long-term growth in Southeast Asia and will strengthen our position as a leading industrial gas supplier in Vietnam. For almost three decades, we have been working with local industry and consistently investing in our facilities to support the country’s economic growth and industrial development,” says Peter Mohnen, CEO of Messer.
Adrien Rameaux, Country Manager of Messer in Vietnam, said the company sees strong long-term potential in the country’s manufacturing sector.
“Vietnam remains one of the most promising industrial markets in Southeast Asia, and Messer is convinced of the economic potential and future of the country’s manufacturing industry,” said Adrien Rameaux, Country Manager of Messer in Vietnam. “By expanding production capacity at our existing sites, we will strengthen our ability to serve customers in high-growth industries and continue to be a reliable partner.”
The investment underscores Messer’s strategy of expanding alongside Vietnam’s industrial growth, particularly in northern manufacturing hubs that are emerging as key production centers for high-tech industries in Southeast Asia.
