The Indian Chemical Council (ICC) has suggested inclusion of four items in India?s negative list in connection with the FTA with Israel.
Giving its views on the tariff lines regarding the India-Israel FTA as sought by the Department of Chemicals and Petrochemicals (DCPC), the ICC said that the four items to be included in India?s negative list are Phthalic Acid, Malic Acid, Fumaric Acid and Citric Acid.
?During 2010-11, approximately Rs. 65,000 crore was paid as subsidy to fertiliser companies to make subsidised fertilisers available to farmers at affordable prices,? it said.
The ICC also said that India?s negative list which is currently included in the FTA with Israel may be maintained.
The ICC said that 4672.5 MT of Phthalic Acid was imported from Israel last year. On the other hand, 80 MT of Fumaric Acid and 497 MT of Citric Acid were also imported from that country. However, there was no import of Malic Acid.
The Department of Commerce had asked the DCPC to provide detailed views and inputs identifying the tariff lines where India needs to be cautious in giving market access.
