Quantum Plastics announced that it has acquired 3D Plastics, Inc. ('3D').
Quantum Plastics announced that it has acquired 3D Plastics, Inc. ('3D'). This acquisition reflects Quantum Plastics' ongoing focus on expanding its North American footprint while breaking into new manufacturing industries.
3D is an ISO 9001:2008 certified injection molding and blow molding facility located in Gladewater, Texas; about 1.5 hours east of Dallas. 3D's injection and blow molding machines manufacture plastic parts for the automotive, food and beverage, and firearm industries. Most notably, 3D molds seatbelt parts and firearm ammunition components. Morris Rowlett, Quantum Plastics Chief Executive Officer said, "With this acquisition, Quantum Plastics is demonstrating its commitment to growth and diversifying its portfolio of industries and capabilities. The talented team at 3D Plastics are a welcomed asset and resource and we look forward to expanding our scope and programs together."
3D President and Founder, David Frye will remain as 3D's president. Vice President of Operations, Dena Wood, will also remain heavily involved in 3D's purchasing, production and operations functions. 3D President, David Frye said, "Together with Quantum Plastics, we expect to gain a competitive advantage with Quantum Plastics' expansive team of engineers and locations while continuing to offer unparalleled capabilities and quality to current and future customers."
3D Plastics follows Quantum Plastics' acquisition of Master Molded Products in 2014; River Bend Industries, Hospitec USA and Apollo Plastics in 2015; and Transfer Solutions in 2016. With the addition of 3D Plastics, Quantum Plastics now boasts approximately 240 molding machines and over 200 years of molding experience.
