New-generation clarifying technology delivers exceptional transparency with lower additive levels, enhancing efficiency and flexibility for converters and resin producers
Milliken & Company announced the launch of Millad ClearX 9000, a next-generation clarifying technology for polypropylene (PP) designed to deliver ultra-clear transparency while using significantly lower additive levels.
Engineered for food packaging, home storage, and medical applications, Millad ClearX 9000 sets a new benchmark for clarity, efficiency, and sustainability in transparent PP production.
Building on the proven legacy of the Millad platform, Millad ClearX 9000 offers manufacturers a transformative solution that enhances visual appeal, streamlines processing, and broadens formulation flexibility. The new technology enables ultra-clear PP at lower clarifying additive concentrations, reducing overall material usage and improving production economics. It also minimizes extraction and migration rates in PP packaging and molded parts—critical factors for applications involving food contact and medical devices.
In addition, Millad ClearX 9000 delivers improved processing compatibility compared to previous generations, allowing for greater operational efficiency and faster changeovers. Its advanced formulation eliminates the need to separate virgin and post-consumer recycled (PCR) resin streams, providing producers with expanded flexibility in resin composition and supporting circular economy goals.
“Millad ClearX 9000 represents a breakthrough for the polypropylene industry, delivering exceptional transparency with lower additive levels and enhanced design flexibility,” said Wim Van De Velde, Senior Vice President and Managing Director of Milliken’s Plastic Additives business. “This innovation underscores Milliken’s commitment to advancing material science and helping our partners meet the evolving demands of the marketplace.”
“Our goal with Millad ClearX 9000 was to meet the growing demand for greater clarity, performance, and efficiency in polypropylene applications,” added Bhavesh Gandhi, Global Product Line Manager, Plastic Additives, Milliken. “By lowering additive loading and migration rates, we’re helping manufacturers produce packaging and components that not only look better but also meet the highest standards for safety and sustainability.”
Milliken pioneered the use of clarifying agents to produce transparent PP parts and packaging incorporating recycled content. The introduction of Millad ClearX 9000 builds on this heritage, reaffirming the company’s leadership in polymer innovation and its dedication to enabling a more efficient, sustainable plastics industry.
