Odisha’s chemical and allied industries are set for a major global push as the Utkal Chamber of Commerce and Industry Ltd (UCCIL) and the Basic Chemicals, Cosmetics and Dyes Export Promotion Council (CHEMEXCIL) joined hands through a landmark MoU.
Signed during a workshop in Bhubaneswar, the partnership aims to transform local chemical manufacturers into globally competitive exporters by equipping businesses with the knowledge, skills and market access needed to expand beyond domestic boundaries.
The strategic collaboration will focus on unlocking Odisha’s untapped export potential in chemicals and allied sectors by connecting local manufacturing strengths with growing international market opportunities.
The MoU was signed by Pankaj Lochan Mohanty on behalf of UCCIL and Vishal Ganju on behalf of CHEMEXCIL, with both organizations committing to a strong capacity-building programme for industries across the state.
Under the agreement, a series of workshops, seminars and training programmes will be conducted to help businesses understand global trade practices, regulatory requirements, compliance procedures and export documentation.
The initiative is expected to provide a major boost to small and medium enterprises that have quality products but often face challenges in meeting international standards and accessing overseas markets.
The partnership will also open new avenues for market expansion through exposure visits, networking platforms and buyer connections, with special focus on emerging opportunities in sectors such as essential oils and fragrances.
Joint advocacy efforts under the initiative will further help Odisha businesses leverage Free Trade Agreements, export incentives and programmes like District Export Hubs, reducing entry barriers and strengthening the state’s position in global trade.
The UCCIL-CHEMEXCIL partnership marks a significant move towards building an export-ready industrial ecosystem in Odisha and accelerating sustainable economic growth through international commerce.
