Saint-Gobain is accelerating its global push in construction chemicals, striking two targeted acquisitions that expand its footprint into the Caribbean and deepen its presence in the Benelux region.
The building materials heavyweight has signed an agreement to acquire a majority stake in Morteros de Europa, a leading construction chemicals player in the Dominican Republic. At the same time, it has agreed to acquire Grout Techniek B.V. and Grout Techniek BV, together known as Grouttech, strengthening its technical solutions portfolio in the Netherlands and Belgium.
With the Morteros de Europa deal, Saint-Gobain plants its flag in the Dominican Republic for the first time — a strategic gateway into the fast-growing Caribbean construction market.
Morteros de Europa generates around €30 million in annual revenue (2025), operates three production plants across the country, and employs approximately 340 people. The company offers a broad portfolio of mortars, including tile adhesives and façade solutions — core segments in residential and commercial construction.
The acquisition gives Saint-Gobain immediate scale and local manufacturing strength, positioning the Group to roll out its full suite of light and sustainable construction solutions across the Dominican Republic and the wider Caribbean.
The transaction is expected to close in the first half of 2026, subject to regulatory approval.
In parallel, Saint-Gobain is sharpening its technical edge in Western Europe through the acquisition of Grouttech, which operates in the Netherlands and Belgium. The company specializes in high-performance construction chemical solutions for infrastructure and buildings, including concrete repair systems, grouting technologies, injection resins and technical flooring.
That deal is expected to be completed by the end of the first quarter of 2026.
Both transactions underscore Saint-Gobain’s disciplined execution of its “Lead & Grow” strategic plan — a roadmap designed to cement the Group’s leadership in construction chemicals, expand its exposure to high-growth emerging markets, and accelerate development in non-residential and infrastructure segments.
A worldwide leader in light and sustainable construction, Saint-Gobain designs, manufactures and distributes materials and services for residential, non-residential and infrastructure markets. Its integrated solutions aim to deliver sustainability, performance and well-being, guided by its purpose, “MAKING THE WORLD A BETTER HOME”.
The Group posted €46.6 billion in sales in 2024, employs more than 161,000 people across 80 countries, and is committed to achieving net zero carbon emissions by 2050.
