Casale SA has signed a cooperation agreement with Uzbekistan-based companies Ferkensco Management Limited and Enter Engineering Pte to support the construction of an ammonia-based fertilizer plant in Uzbekistan. The agreement was signed at the Tashkent International Investment Forum.
The agreement represents the foundation for future cooperation between the three companies that will bring to life this important complex with an estimated total investment of $500 million.
Following Casale’s award in 2021 to provide all licenses and front-end engineering design for the ammonia, urea, and granulation facilities, and with the support of European funding, this new agreement confirms Casale SA as a unique partner and its technology will ensure continuity in the plant’s design development and in the supply of critical equipment.
Casale SA, supported by the local design institute UzlitiEngineering, has been appointed as General Designer for the project.
The construction of a state-of-the-art plant for the production of mineral fertilizers based on ammonia will take place in the city of Yangiyer, Syrdarya region of the Republic of Uzbekistan. The project will help to further develop, diversify, and increase the investment attractiveness of the chemical industry in the country. On completion, the plant will produce up to 495,000 tons/yr of ammonia and 594,000 tons/yr of granular urea.
The project’s completion date is expected to be in the first half of 2025 and the construction of the plant will create more than 500 new jobs locally.
