Sandvik has secured a major order from mining giant LKAB to supply crushing and screening equipment for a new sorting plant in Malmberget, Sweden. The deal, booked in Q2 2026, is valued at approximately SEK 175 million.
The order covers cone crushers, double-deck screens, and vibrating feeders, all integrated with Sandvik’s Automation and Connectivity System (ACS). The system will be embedded into LKAB’s plant control infrastructure, enabling real-time operational control, data-driven decision-making, and predictive maintenance.
Sandvik says the solution combines advanced technology with Engineered-To-Order (ETO) design to boost productivity, efficiency, and product quality according to LKAB’s specifications. Deliveries are scheduled for the second and third quarters of 2027.
“We look forward to further strengthening our collaboration with LKAB and supporting their operations with the latest technology, innovation, and service capabilities,” says Richard Harris, President of business area Rock Processing at Sandvik.
The new sorting plant is expected to go live in 2028 and will process 24 million tons of magnetite ore and 1 million tons of hematite ore annually. The facility will crush, screen, and magnetically separate ore—an essential first step before beneficiation into fines and pellet products.
