Syngenta India dedicated the first of its kind of project ‘Solar Drying Facility’ to the people of Ilayangudi, under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). The 1,800 square feet facility was handed over to the Lower Vaigai Ilayangudi Farmer Producer Organisation.

The facility was inaugurated by Asha Ajith, District Collector of Sivagangai. Over 500 farmers from the Lower Vaigai Ilayangudi Farmer Producer Organisation will benefit from this initiative. The project, costing Rs. 13 lakhs , was implemented by our NGO partner Hand in Hand India.

This innovative facility offers significant advantages to farmers. It accelerates the drying process, making it five times faster than traditional methods. The controlled environment ensures improved product quality and hygiene while protecting the chillies from environmental factors. Additionally, farmers will benefit from lower operational costs associated with the drying process.

The Solar Drying Facility project demonstrates Syngenta's commitment to supporting local agricultural communities and improving farming practices through innovative solutions. By addressing challenges in post-harvest processing, we aim to help farmers enhance their produce quality and market value.
