Tata Chemicals inaugurates oxygen plant at Mithapur hospital

The PSA oxygen plant is spread over 550sq.ft.in area and has the capacity of 200 liters/minute.

Tata Chemicals has been at the forefront in its fight against the novel Coronavirus ensuring the safety and well-being of the communities it operates in. The company through its CSR arm, Tata Chemicals Society for Rural Development (TCSRD) in association with Tata Community Initiative Trust (TCIT) commissioned the state-of-the-art Pressure Swing Adsorption (PSA) Oxygen Plant at Mithapur Hospital.

The oxygen plant was inaugurated by R Mukundan, Managing Director and CEO of Tata Chemicals in the presence of Shohab Rais, Chief Operating Officer, Indian Chemical Business, Tata Chemicals, Narasimha Kamath, Vice President (Manufacturing), Tata Chemicals and Sanjeev Bhatnagar, Head – Medical Service, Tata Chemicals.

Commenting on this initiative, Mukundan, said “We at Tata Chemicals, have always prioritised communities well-being and safety. Our constant endeavour is directed towards the upliftment of Mithapur and its’ people and, that has been a part of the company's ethos since inception. The purpose of this medical oxygen plant is to ensure that there is no shortage of oxygen for the patients at the hospital. With this, we reaffirm our commitment to actively support local communities, administration, and the nation in its battle against the pandemic going forward as well.”

About the plant: The PSA oxygen plant is spread over 550sq.ft.in area and has the capacity of 200 liters/minute. Alongside, the plant is the oxygen manifold and storage area for keeping filled and empty oxygen cylinders. The plant will not only make Mithapur hospital completely self-sufficient in terms of medical oxygen supply but also enhance the medical facility by providing continuous oxygen support to all beds inside the hospitals with Medical Gas Pipeline Supply (MPGS).
