DKSH is making a decisive move in Southeast Asia’s food ingredients sector, snapping up AIC Ingredients Sdn Bhd in a deal that significantly boosts its manufacturing and formulation capabilities in Malaysia.
The acquisition brings into DKSH’s fold a well-established functional food ingredients business with more than 25 years of experience. AIC Ingredients, founded in 1998, has built a strong reputation as both a distributor and manufacturer, supported by a 60-strong team of industry specialists.
The move sharply strengthens DKSH’s position in Malaysia while accelerating its push into higher-value food blending and production. AIC Ingredients is widely recognized for its expertise in developing functional blends for the bakery industry, working closely with customers on new product development, recipe formulation, and contract blending services.
With this deal, DKSH integrates AIC Ingredients into its specialized food solutions brand, ekpi—expanding its regional footprint and establishing Malaysia as a critical third pillar in its blending and formulation network. The company is betting that the added technical depth and local manufacturing presence will unlock faster innovation and stronger customer support across Asia.
YC Choong, Founder and Managing Director of AIC Ingredients, commented: “Over the years, AIC Ingredients has grown into a trusted provider of food ingredient and premix solutions. Together with DKSH, we can accelerate our growth and reach new markets across Asia Pacific.”
DKSH leadership framed the acquisition as more than just a scale play, positioning it as a step-change in capability and regional reach.
Natale Capri, Head Business Unit Performance Materials at DKSH, commented: “The acquisition of AIC Ingredients marks an exciting step forward for our organization, strengthening capabilities in Malaysia and expanding the strategically important ekpi footprint into a new market.
"By bringing AIC Ingredients and their experienced team into our group, we are enhancing our ability to support customers with innovative, scalable and locally relevant food technologies across Asia. This is not just an expansion of capacity – it is an expansion of what we can achieve for our customers.”
The deal underscores DKSH’s long-term strategy: deepen local manufacturing, scale innovation, and deliver tailored food solutions to a rapidly evolving regional market.
