SIBUR and Wildberries & Russ signed an agreement on cooperation in the field of sustainable development and the climate agenda at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum.

The agreement provides for assistance in reducing and compensating the carbon footprint of logistics and other processes related to the delivery and sale of goods, including through SIBUR carbon units. It will contribute to the development of environmental responsibility of consumers and a voluntary carbon market in Russia.

In particular, one of the joint projects under consideration is the creation of an opportunity for marketplace users to voluntarily offset the carbon footprint of their purchase.

"Thanks to the joint work of SIBUR and Wildberries & Russ and new digital tools, users may have the opportunity to make a voluntary contribution to solving climate problems and make their purchases more environmentally friendly. The implementation of the plans of this agreement is a contribution to achieving national decarbonization goals, and without a doubt, a landmark stage for the voluntary Russian carbon market," noted Nadezhda Galaktionova, Director of Sustainable Development at SIBUR.

"It is extremely important for us to integrate the principles of sustainable development into every aspect of our activities - from logistics to digital interaction with customers. Signing an agreement with SIBUR is a strategic step in developing the climate responsibility of our business. A joint project to reduce the carbon footprint and digitalize the environmental agenda will create a new convenient infrastructure for reducing the carbon footprint of consumers, developing a voluntary carbon market and involving millions of customers in the agenda of conscious consumption," said Nadezhda Vorontsova, Deputy General Director of RBB for Sustainable Development.

"The signed agreement is, without exaggeration, a breakthrough step in involving a new audience in the climate agenda. We believe that the technological competencies of Wildberries & Russ and the expertise of SIBUR will help expand the range of solutions in this area," commented Oksana Gogunskaya, CEO of the authorized operator of the carbon unit registry "Kontur".
