Olin Corporation, which declared Force Majeure in the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey, has revoked the emergency clause for all product shipments, except phenol, acetone, methyl chloride, methylene chloride and chloroform, from its Freeport, Texas facility. Supply and logistic constraints caused by massive flooding that resulted from recent Hurricane Harvey forced Olin to cut its production at the facility.

California’s Clayton-based chemical manufacturer has estimated that its third quarter 2017 adjusted EBITDA will be down by approximately US$40 million due to increase in operating costs, unabsorbed fixed manufacturing costs and reduced profit from lost sales.

Isolated transportation, raw material and customers' issues will continue to be experienced in both the chlor alkali products and vinyls and epoxy segments into fourth quarter 2017.  However, Olin is hopeful of lowering its Q4 adjusted EBITDA. Olin is a manufacturer of chlor alkali, vinyls, epoxy and winchester.
