Maharashtra continues to lead in key sectors like chemicals, petrochemicals, pharma, and agrochemicals, not just in numbers, but in intent and action."With over 500 regulatory reforms, deep decriminalization efforts, and the launch of Maitri 2.0 as a statutory single-window system, we are removing friction from compliance and permissions. Coupled with integrated smart industrial estates, pharma zones and greenfield investments in gasification, we are actively reimagining ease of doing business and making the shift from regulation-heavy to reform-driven governance. Promoting ease of doing business, reducing the regulatory compliance and decriminalizing the procedures which are civil in nature are key reform areas which Nithi Ayog, Mitra and the state government are focussing on,” said Dr P Anbalagan, Secretary Industry, Government of Maharashtra at The Chemical Conclave 2.0 “Catalyzing Maharashtra’s GDP to a US$1 trillion economy” organised by ASSOCHAM.

In his keynote address, Praveen Pardeshi, Chief Executive Officer, Maharashtra Institution for Transformation & Chief Economic Advisor to Chief Minister of Maharashtra stated It's time to shift the geography to Eastern and this distribution shows that Pune, Thane and Mumbai contribute more than 54 % of Maharashtra's GDP.  MITRA to work with MIDC to recycle land like England, Germany, Japan where land bases are not growing but they are continuously recycling land.

Manish Singhal, Secretary General, ASSOCHAM in his opening remarks mentioned the need to focus on ESG compliance. The EUDR regulations from Europe which talk about agricultural production being very environmentally sustainable. The whole of the West is talking of sustainability and it's for our own good. And likewise, the steel industry struggling with the C-Ban regulations of higher import duties starting first January next year. Hence chemical industry becomes a crucial part of the value chain of anything which is to do with manufacturing in India.

Padma Vibhushan Prof M M Sharma, Emeritus Professor of Eminence, ICT, in his special address stressed on the need for expediting environment clearance and that confirming the merits should not take a month or more in this electronic age.
