Verdant Specialty Solutions acquires Lubrizol’s Elmendorf site

The acquisition dramatically expands Verdant’s footprint in the oil and gas production chemicals market

Boosting it's oil & gas chemicals portfolio, Verdant Specialty Solutions, a Samyang Company, has finalised its acquisition of Lubrizol’s Elmendorf site, including its products and on-site Research and Development laboratory.

The acquisition dramatically expands Verdant’s footprint in the oil and gas production chemicals market, adding H₂S scavengers, scale inhibitors, corrosion inhibitors, and other specialty oilfield chemicals to its offerings. These additions complement Verdant’s existing chemistry portfolio, strengthening the company’s ability to serve both upstream and midstream applications.

Beyond manufacturing, the Elmendorf site brings a well-established R&D laboratory, advanced application testing, and pilot-scale facilities. These capabilities are expected to accelerate product innovation, support faster commercialization, and enable customer-specific formulation and field-driven development.

“This acquisition represents a strategic milestone for Verdant as we continue to build a differentiated, technology-driven portfolio for the energy industry,” said Todd Nelmark, CEO of Verdant Specialty Solutions. “The Elmendorf site brings highly complementary chemistries, deep technical expertise, and exceptional R&D and pilot capabilities that will allow us to better serve our customers today while positioning Verdant for future growth.”

Verdant plans to integrate the Elmendorf assets into its Energy Services platform as part of its broader North American manufacturing and innovation network. Key technical capabilities will be retained on-site to support both current products and next-generation development.

“This transaction aligns with Samyang’s long-term strategy of expanding its global specialty chemicals footprint through targeted investments in high-value, application-driven technologies,” Nelmark added.
