Professor G. D. Yadav, a distinguished engineering scientist and renowned academic leader, has joined the Board of Dorf Ketal Chemicals India Pvt. Ltd. as an Independent Director.
His vast experience on the boards of leading companies, including Godrej Industries, Clean Science & Technology, Meghmani Organics, Bhageria Industries, and Astec Lifesciences, highlights his deep expertise in the chemical industry. He has also recently completed two terms with Aarti Industries Ltd.
Currently, Professor Yadav holds the prestigious National Science Chair of the Government of India and serves as an Emeritus Professor of Eminence. As the former Vice-Chancellor of the Institute of Chemical Technology (ICT), Mumbai, he is widely recognized for his transformative impact on academia and industry.
His exceptional contributions to green chemistry, chemical engineering, catalysis, biotechnology, nanotechnology, and energy engineering have earned him over 150 national and international accolades.
His groundbreaking research, especially in green hydrogen production, carbon dioxide refineries, and the conversion of waste biomass and plastics into valuable products, has attracted the interest of several global companies. Three of his patents are currently being scaled up for commercial use, reflecting his contributions to sustainable and innovative chemical processes.
During his tenure as Vice Chancellor at ICT Mumbai, he secured over Rs. 1,800 crore in funding and established new campuses in Bhubaneswar and Jalna. With 134 patents, 556 research papers, and guidance of 114 PhDs and 153 master's candidates, his academic influence is profound.
His honors include the prestigious Padma Shri (2016) and election to the US National Academies. Professor Yadav currently chairs the Green Hydrogen Platform Advisory Committee under the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, Government of India.
As part of the Centennial Jubilee of the Indian Chemical Society, he is spearheading an initiative to recognize over 100 industrialists for their contributions to India’s economy. This event is scheduled for January 17-18, 2025, in Mumbai, with a coffee table book highlighting the history and leadership of these companies to be distributed among academic, governmental, and industrial institutions.
This book will be published and distributed among leading academic institutes, government bodies, and industry associations to address the significant decline in admissions to chemical sciences, engineering, and technology programs. It aims to highlight the critical role of India's chemical and allied industries, including upstream and downstream processes, in supporting the government's ambitious Viksit Bharat@2047 initiative.
With the goal of achieving a US $30+ trillion economy, the contributions of these industries are crucial for realizing this vision. Without renewed focus and recognition of their importance, the potential of India's chemical sector to drive innovation, job creation, and industrial growth may not be fully realized.
