Japanese chemicals MNC UBE Corporation has announced that it has certified two products under its environmental product brand, U-BE-INFINITY, marking a major step in the company’s push for sustainable innovation.

The certifications cover a biomass composite nylon currently under development by UBE and ISCC PLUS certified polybutadiene products already produced and sold by Thai Synthetic Rubbers Company Ltd. (TSL), a member of the UBE Group.

The U-BE-INFINITY brand is reserved for products “that demonstrate particularly outstanding positive environmental impacts, thereby enhancing their added value,” UBE said, adding that it seeks to “help solve global environmental issues through the widespread adoption of U-BE-INFINITY products.”

The newly certified products are Biomass Composite Nylon -- this applies UBE’s proprietary composite technologies to plant-derived resins (polyamide 56 and polyamide 510). It promises performance exceeding conventional petroleum-derived materials and is suitable for automotive components as well as electrical and electronic parts.

By advancing further research and development, UBE aims to contribute to carbon neutrality across multiple fields, including “construction materials, furniture, and household goods.”

The second one is ISCC PLUS Certified Polybutadiene products linked to ISCC-certified bio-circular or circular raw materials using the ISCC PLUS mass balance approach. All products produced at TSL’s Rayong factory in Thailand meet the latest ISCC PLUS requirements and maintain the same quality as conventional products.

While delivering wear resistance, energy loss properties, durability, and processability across applications like automotive tires, industrial rubber, shoe soles, and golf balls, the products also “contribute to addressing global environmental issues,” UBE said.

The UBE Group is targeting three major environmental challenges: climate change (carbon neutrality), the circular economy, and nature positivity.

Through the development and application of environmentally friendly products and technologies, the company seeks to provide solutions to more customers and fulfill its 2030 vision of being “a specialty chemicals company that contributes to the global environment, human health, and an enriched future society.”
