E3 Lithium, a leader in Canadian lithium development, has begun delivering battery-grade lithium carbonate from its Alberta-based Demonstration program to multiple prospective customers. This marks a key step toward commercial production and long-term offtake agreements.
The company said shipments are underway as part of active engagement with targeted offtake and strategic partners across the lithium battery and critical minerals sectors.
“This milestone marks an important step in E3’s commercial process toward securing long-term offtake agreements and advancing our relationships with key players in the battery and critical minerals industry,” said Chris Doornbos, President and CEO of E3 Lithium. “Our ability to continually produce significant quantities of lithium carbonate from our demonstration facility highlights the size and sophistication of our operations.”
E3 is producing battery-grade lithium carbonate from lithium chloride generated through its proprietary Direct Lithium Extraction process, now fully integrated into the Demonstration program. The company is currently shipping 0.5-kilogram sample lots to prospective partners, with several parties requesting multiple kilograms for further testing and validation.
The Demonstration equipment was designed based on E3’s 2024 Pre-Feasibility Study, fabricated in early 2025, and deployed to site for Phase One operations in the third quarter of 2025.
Within three weeks of commissioning, the facility achieved targeted battery-grade specifications, underscoring the robustness of the design. E3 said its lithium carbonate has consistently met strict purity requirements across all key contaminants required for battery applications as part of a structured customer qualification process.
The Demonstration program is being carried out at the company’s flagship Clearwater Project, which is designed to generate the technical and operational data needed to complete Front End Engineering and Design (FEED) and advance toward a full Feasibility Study.
The Clearwater Project is an advanced-stage lithium carbonate development located 15 kilometres east of Olds, Alberta, roughly one hour north of Calgary.
E3 has outlined a staged development plan for Clearwater, with initial production capacity of 12,000 tonnes of lithium carbonate per year and expansion potential of up to 36,000 tonnes annually.
As demonstration-scale production continues, E3 Lithium said it is advancing commercial offtake discussions in parallel, positioning the Clearwater Project to move towards shovel-ready status.
