Olin and Braskem sign long-term EDC deal in Brazil

The deal follows Olin’s decision to dissolve its Blue Water Alliance joint venture, freeing up significant EDC volumes to redirect into higher-value, long-term relationships

Olin Corporation has entered into a major, long-term strategic partnership with Braskem to supply ethylene dichloride (EDC). This agreement aligns with Braskem's strategy to transform its chlor-alkali and vinyl assets in Brazil and expand in the South American polyvinyl chloride (PVC) market.

The move gives Olin a powerful foothold in the region, allowing the company to capitalize on its cost advantage in EDC at a time when PVC demand is climbing.

The deal follows Olin’s decision to dissolve its Blue Water Alliance joint venture, freeing up significant EDC volumes to redirect into higher-value, long-term relationships. The Braskem partnership is now a cornerstone of this push.

“Olin’s strategy for expanding our core businesses is advancing through deliberate initiatives designed to maximize value,” said Ken Lane, Olin President and CEO. “This expanded relationship with Braskem reinforces our strategic objective of leveraging our global leadership in EDC to drive value creation.”

The agreement marks another step in Olin’s broader growth plan, built on its integrated chlor-alkali and vinyls portfolio and focused on value-driven partnerships, disciplined investment, and operational excellence.
