Mura technology to build recycling facility on Jurong Island, Singapore

This marks Mura’s first direct investment in Southeast Asia

Mura Technology, a global pioneer of next-generation advanced plastic recycling, announced plans to build a 50 kilotonnes per annum advanced recycling facility in Singapore. This marks Mura’s first direct investment in Southeast Asia and strengthens its global footprint in the fight against plastic pollution.

The new facility will be developed on Jurong Island within the Singapore Essential Chemicals Complex (SECC), on a site secured from PCS Pte. Ltd. (PCS). Alongside, Mura has also established a Singapore regional office to support this strategic expansion.

Through collaboration with local companies and Singapore’s National Environment Agency, Mura expects to secure a high proportion of plastic waste from Singapore as feedstock for its facility. This will be supplemented with imports of processed and verified Recovered Plastic Feedstock from regional sources supporting Southeast Asia’s ambitions for plastics circularity. Mura’s Singapore facility will provide a viable outlet to recycle low value plastic waste which is a major contributor to post-use plastic pollution in the region.

The site at SECC offers direct pipeline connections to potential customers, proximity to utilities, and access to skilled talent, ensuring seamless integration into Singapore’s world-class industrial ecosystem.

Dr. Steve Mahon, CEO of Mura Technology, said: “Southeast Asia, with its high plastic consumption and rapid urbanisation, is a critical battleground in tackling plastic pollution. Expanding into Singapore represents a strategic milestone in our mission to build a truly global circular plastic economy. With its infrastructure, vision, and position as a regional leader, Singapore is the ideal foundation for our first Southeast Asian facility.”
