The portfolio includes 37 solar farms, 14 wind farms and one battery storage facility
Plenitude, the renewables and retail energy subsidiary of Eni, has inked a sweeping agreement to acquire 52 operating renewable energy assets from Neoen, one of Europe’s top renewable developers, in a deal that ranks among the largest of its kind in France in recent years.
If approved, the acquisition will represent a major boost to Plenitude’s momentum in Europe’s energy transition—delivering scale, market depth and a stronger platform for its next phase of growth.
The portfolio—37 solar farms, 14 wind farms and one battery storage facility—adds roughly 760 MW of installed capacity to Plenitude’s operations and generates around 1.1 TWh of electricity each year. The transaction, still subject to regulatory approval, marks a decisive step in the company’s expansion strategy as it accelerates its European footprint.
With this move, Plenitude strengthens its march toward its 2025–2028 goals, including reaching 10 GW of installed renewable capacity by 2028. The acquisition is expected to deliver significant operational synergies by integrating Neoen’s assets with Plenitude’s existing French portfolio, bolstering its position in one of Europe’s most competitive and fast-moving energy markets.
“This acquisition expands our presence in France, where we already serve around 1 million retail customers and are growing in energy solutions and e-mobility,” said Plenitude CEO Stefano Goberti. “Through this operation, we strengthen our integrated business model and accelerate progress toward our strategic objectives.”
Plenitude, controlled by Eni, combines renewable generation, energy retail, energy services and an expanding electric-vehicle charging network. The company currently supplies energy to 10 million customers across Europe and aims to surpass 11 million by 2028 and reach 15 million by 2030.
