Woodfield Systems International has achieved a significant milestone in India’s industrial manufacturing sector.
This, with the production of the country’s first domestically manufactured LNG Marine Loading Arm, a critical piece of infrastructure used in liquefied natural gas (LNG) transfer operations.
The breakthrough marks a major step toward reducing India’s dependence on imported LNG handling equipment and strengthening the country’s capabilities in manufacturing highly specialized energy infrastructure.
The first India-made LNG Marine Loading Arm has been manufactured at Woodfield Systems’ Asangaon facility near Mumbai and is set to be shipped to a leading oil and gas company in the Middle East. A second unit is scheduled to undergo testing by June 10, 2026.
Founded in 1923, Woodfield Systems is a British engineering company and a pioneer in LNG Marine Loading Arm technology. Until recently, the equipment was manufactured exclusively in the UK. Following the company’s acquisition by an Indian owner in 2024, Woodfield Systems transferred manufacturing capabilities to India, combining its century-old British engineering expertise with Indian manufacturing infrastructure.
The development aligns with the Government of India’s Make in India initiative and represents a major advance in the domestic production of critical energy-sector equipment traditionally sourced from Europe.
Woodfield Systems expects its India-manufactured LNG Marine Loading Arm business to generate between USD 20 million and USD 30 million in revenue by FY27, supported by a growing order pipeline and rising global demand for LNG infrastructure.
Commenting on the milestone, Kartik Gala, CEO, Woodfield Systems, said: “This is a defining milestone, not just for Woodfield Systems, but for what India is now capable of delivering to the world.
"For the first time an LNG Marine loading arm has been built entirely in India – designed, engineered and manufactured end-to-end – using the intellectual property and technical heritage of a 103 year old British pioneering company. As countries expand LNG import and export capacities, reliable transfer infrastructure will become increasingly important.
"Our ambition is to position India as a trusted manufacturing hub for this critical equipment and support customers who are building the next generation of LNG infrastructure”
The company is currently engaged in advanced discussions with customers across the Middle East and Far East Asia, regions witnessing rapid investments in LNG import and export infrastructure.
Manufacturing in India is expected to enhance cost competitiveness, improve delivery timelines, and strengthen aftermarket support for customers in these markets.
The announcement comes amid growing global investment in LNG infrastructure as countries seek greater energy security, diversify fuel supplies, and strengthen resilience against geopolitical disruptions. Industry forecasts indicate that global LNG supply growth is expected to accelerate in 2026, with emerging Asian economies driving a significant share of future demand.
With the successful delivery of its first LNG Marine Loading Arm from India, Woodfield Systems is positioning itself to play a larger role in the global LNG infrastructure supply chain while advancing India's ambitions to become a manufacturing hub for high-value engineering equipment.
