The winning concept is the Brenntag Nutrition food ingredient solution to produce low CO₂ emission plant-based spreadable cheese
Brenntag, the global market leader in chemicals and ingredients distribution, announced the winning of the Sustainability Innovation of the Year Award at the Saudi Food Manufacturing tradeshow for its ingredient-solution to produce soft spreadable plant-based cheese with low CO2 emission. It’s Brenntag Nutrition’s goal to play a key role in fostering sustainability through innovative solutions. At the Riyadh trade show, the Brenntag experts showcased their latest creation, an ingredient-solution to produce a delicious plant-based soft cheese containing selected ingredients including sustainable potato-based thickeners sourced from Avebe.
This awarded ingredient-solution not only is a strong source of protein and delivers a creamy taste but also holds a remarkable low CO2 impact of just 2.15 kg CO2e/kg. This is significantly lower than the 12.51 kg CO2e/kg produced by traditional dairy counterparts (according to CarbonCloud studies, ISO 14067:2008 compliant).
The Brenntag commitment to sustainability is grounded in science. Using the Brenntag proprietary CO2Xplorer tool, TÜV Rheinland certified, carbon footprints of Brenntag products are carefully calculated. This market leading tool was honored as “Best Digital Innovation” at the ICIS (Independent Commodity Intelligence Service) Innovation Awards 2024, highlighting Brenntag’s dedication to responsible practices.
