KBR has secured a major long-term contract to support one of the Middle East’s most ambitious petrochemical expansions, tightening its foothold in the global downstream sector.
The Houston-based engineering firm announced it has been awarded a seven-year General Maintenance Services (GMS) contract—along with an optional three-year extension—from Saudi Aramco Total Refining and Petrochemical Company for its expanding complex in Jubail, Saudi Arabia.
The high-stakes agreement places KBR at the center of maintaining and optimizing operations at SATORP’s strategically critical petrochemical hub, where it will deliver a full spectrum of services—from preventive and predictive maintenance to shutdown support—aimed at maximizing performance and reliability across the site.
The deal builds on more than a decade of collaboration between the two companies, with KBR now tasked with helping ensure the complex achieves peak operational readiness from day one. The company said it will deploy advanced practices and digital tools to drive top-tier plant performance while keeping costs in check.
“We are looking forward to continuing to support SATORP in the expansion of its world-scale petrochemical complex, seamlessly integrated with their existing refinery, one of the most advanced and efficient in the world,” said Jay Ibrahim, President, KBR Sustainable Technology Solutions.
“Through this contract with SATORP, KBR reinforces its commitment to driving in-country value and upholding a strong safety culture across all assets, while laying the foundation for progressively enhanced asset performance through advanced analytics and digital enablement—designed to achieve operational excellence and sustainable performance at every stage.”
KBR, which has operated in the downstream sector for more than 70 years, is positioning the contract as another milestone in its track record of managing complex, large-scale industrial facilities worldwide.
SATORP, a joint venture between Saudi Aramco and TotalEnergies, runs one of the world’s most advanced refineries, capable of processing 465,000 barrels per day of Arabian Heavy crude.
