Mitsubishi Gas Chemical Company announces the decision to establish a partnership with Origin Materials, which has the technology to manufacture chemicals from non-food plant-based feedstock, to conduct the development and industrialization of chemicals from plant-based materials. MGC also has decided to make an investment in Origin in their PIPE (Private Investment in Public Equity) offering.

For the purpose of realizing and developing a sustainable society through our business activities, MGC has been working on geothermal power generation, which generates less carbon dioxide (CO2) during power generation, and have launched the plan of ‘Circular Carbon Methanol’ production.

In addition, MGC also set a long-term goal for the reduction of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions toward the achievement of carbon neutrality in 2050. Through our partnership with Origin, MGC will pursue the development of non-food plant based feedstock based products that can reduce CO2 emissions in the life cycle, in addition to a lot of useful plastics such as polycarbonate and polyamide, polyester etc., and their raw materials which MGC has been manufacturing and selling. By these policy and actions, MGC is promoting the initiative toward the realization of carbon neutrality and by creating value to share with a society that “solves climate change issues on a global scale”, we will contribute toward the realization of a sustainable society
