Padmavati Chemicals proposes expansion of bulk drugs manufacturing unit

Padmavati Chemicals Pvt Ltd has moved the Ministry of Environment and Forests for environmental clearance for expansion of its bulk drugs manufacturing unit at Vapi in Gujarat.

Padmavati Chemicals Pvt Ltd has moved the Ministry of Environment and Forests for environmental clearance for expansion of its bulk drugs manufacturing unit at Vapi in Gujarat.

In its presentation to the Ministry for environmental clearance, the company said that it intends to increase its production from 25 kg/M to 260 Kg/M besides adding some new products.

The unit currently produces Trihexyphenidyl HCl. The new products proposed are Procyclidine Hydrochloride, Pridinol Hydrochloride, Pridinol Mesylate, Mometasone Furoate, Triamcionolone, Triamcionolone Acetonide, Tolperisone Hydrochloride, Desonide, Budesonide and Oxiconazole Nitrate.

The total plot area of the unit is 1840 sq m, of which 720 sq m is for greenbelt development.

The project cost is Rs 20.5 lakh.

There are no historical places, defence installations, archaeological sites, wildlife sanctuaries or national parks and ecologically-sensitive areas near the project site, the company said.

In its presentation, the company said there will not be any major potential for negative impact on the environment due to the proposed project. On the contrary, there will be positive impact on the socio-economic environment since the project will generate some permanent and secondary employment and it will increase direct and indirect employment opportunities, the company said.

The company it will adopt all safety and hazard identification measures besides a strong disaster management policy.

There are no fuel consuming utilities installed in the existing plant and the company is not proposing to install any new utilities for the proposed expansion project.

There are no process gas emissions from the existing plant as well as from the proposed expansion project, the company said.

\"There are no major activities due to which noise would be generated. Noise level would remain below 80 decibels within the plant,\" it said.
