Sabero Organics proposes pesticides plant in Gujarat

Sabero Organics Gujarat Ltd has approached the Environment and Forests Ministry for environment clearance to its proposed project at Vagara in Gujarat'''s Bharuch district to manufacture pesticides and pesticides intermediates.
In a letter to the Environment and Forests Ministry, the company said the estimated cost of the proposed project will be Rs 6151.73 lakh including pollution control measures.
The unit will produce pesticides and pesticides intermediates with a cumulative capacity of 49300 MTPA.
\"All proposed pesticides to be produced are non-persistent being biodegradable in nature. They break down on exposure to light and oxygen,\" the company said.
Of the total land area, greenbelt shall be maintained in and around the site by planting various types of trees on the periphery of the plant with 15 m width as per as SEZ guidelines. The total 13000 sq m of the open area shall be utilised for tree plantation.
Local species of trees like Neem, Saru, Ashoka, Gulmohor, Siris, Palm and Teakwood will be planted and assistance of local people will be taken for development of greenbelt.
\"The unit shall maintain the quality of its product, safety and housekeeping of the site. This project will generate additional employment and secondary business opportunities in the region. This unit would cater to the domestic market and thereby reduce dependencies on import of agrochemicals,\" the company said.
The total power requirement for the project is 4000 KVA per day. Two DG sets of 1000 KVA shall be installed as standby power in case of power failure.
There are no rehabilitation and resettlement areas near the plant site. Also no state and national boundary exist within 15 km radius from the plant boundary and there are no reserve forests in the 10-km radius, the company said.
There are also no historical places, archaeological sites, wildlife sanctuaries or national parks within a 10 km radius from the project site.
In its presentation, the company said there will not be any major potential for negative impact on the environment due to the proposed project.
It said it will adopt all hazard identification measures and ensure safety and provide all medical facilities to its employees.
