manufacture bulk drugs and drug intermediates at its Anantharam unit in Andhra
Pradesh?s Medak district.
In its presentation before the Ministry of Environment and Forests for
environmental clearance, the company said that the proposed cost of the project
is Rs 51.34 crore. Of this, Rs 5 crore will be spent on environmental control
measures.
The company proposed to manufacture 18 bulk drugs and their intermediates on
campaign basis. Tech Bond said that the proposed capacity of bulk drugs and drug
intermediates is 240 TPA.
The bulk drugs proposed are: Sparfloxacin, Mirtazapine, Topiramate, Olanzapine,
Amlodipine Besylate, Montelukast Sodium, Loratadine, valsartan, Clopidogrel
Hydrogensulfate and Gabapentin.
The total area of the unit is 27200 sq m of which 9241 sq m is for greenbelt
development.
Tech Bond said the unit has the advantages of local supporting facilities,
transportation, communication and availability of highly-skilled personnel.
The company it will strictly follow all the safety and hazard identification
measures according to the guidelines of the National Safety Council for a
process industry and will provide all necessary safety equipment for protection
of the industrial establishment as well as the personnel working in the plant
premises.
Personnel protective equipment will be provided to all its employees who are
involved in the handling of hazardous activities.
The company said there will not be any major potential for negative impact on
the environment due to the proposed project and that all environmental
infrastructures are available in the region.
On the contrary, there will be positive impact on the socio-economic environment
since the project will generate some permanent and secondary employment and it
will increase direct and indirect employment opportunities, the company said.
In order to mitigate the air pollutants and to attenuate the noise generated by
the plant and also improving the ecology and aesthetics of the area, the unit
will develop the green belt and plant nearly 1500 trees, the company said.
There are also no historical places, defence installations, archaeological
sites, wildlife sanctuaries or national parks and ecologically-sensitive areas
within a 10 km radius from the project site.
