India will reiterate it's commitment to balancing energy security, economic growth and sustainability, while positioning the country as a key global energy hub and a credible voice in the global energy transition, at the upcoming India Energy Week (IEW) 2026.

IEW will be held from 27–30 January 2026 at ONGC ATI, Goa, bringing together global energy ministers, industry leaders, policymakers, financial institutions, academia and technology providers at a critical juncture for the global energy sector.

Addressing a presser, Union Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas Shri Hardeep Singh Puri has described the event as the first major international energy forum of the year, with a sharp focus on strengthening energy security, catalysing investment and advancing practical pathways for decarbonisation.

Highlighting the rapid rise of IEW on the global stage, Puri said the event has expanded significantly since its launch. Participation has grown steadily from around 30,000 delegates and 316 exhibitors in 2023 to over 45,000 participants in 2024 and 68,000 in 2025.

The 2026 edition is expected to be the largest so far, with more than 75,000 delegates, over 600 exhibitors — including 180 international exhibitors — more than 500 global speakers and over 120 conference sessions. According to the Minister, the scale and diversity of participation underscore India’s growing leadership in shaping the global energy narrative.

Puri said that 17 Ministers and Deputy Ministers from countries including the UAE, Canada, the Netherlands, Oman, Brunei, Myanmar and Tanzania have confirmed their participation, along with representatives from international organisations such as the International Energy Forum, BIMSTEC and the Eurasian Economic Union.

The exhibition will be spread across 11 thematic zones hosted by leading public sector undertakings, covering areas such as digitalisation and AI, hydrogen, renewable energy, petrochemicals, biofuels, LNG, city gas distribution, Make in India and net-zero solutions. New additions this year include dedicated Nuclear Energy and Sustainable Aviation Fuel zones.

The conference programme will be structured around 10 strategic themes aligned with global priorities and India’s evolving energy leadership. It will feature four ministerial sessions, including the inaugural session with energy ministers and senior policymakers, 47 leadership and spotlight panels, and five one-on-one Energy Talks with senior global energy leaders focusing on technology, markets and sustainability.

Emphasising the government’s push for indigenisation, Puri said a dedicated Make in India and Indigenisation Pavilion, led by Engineers India Limited, will promote collaboration with MSMEs, vendors and start-ups to support the vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat.

The pavilion will also host daily Energy Talks on technology-driven transformation and sustainability. In addition, 11 country pavilions — including those from Japan, the US, Germany, the UK, the Netherlands, Norway, Canada, Russia and China — will strengthen international engagement.

IEW 2026 is also expected to deliver concrete business outcomes, with several major agreements and memoranda of understanding proposed during the event.

These include shipbuilding contracts involving ONGC, Japan’s Mitsui O.S.K. Lines and South Korea’s Samsung Heavy Industries; a term contract between BPCL and Petrobras for Brazilian crude supply; collaboration agreements between BPRL and Shell for global upstream opportunities; LNG sourcing MoUs involving OIL, NRL and TotalEnergies; and a partnership between NRL and TotalEnergies to set up a 200 KTPA Sustainable Aviation Fuel project at Paradip in Odisha.

A series of high-level side events will run alongside the main conference, including the 9th Prime Minister’s Roundtable, where the Hon’ble Prime Minister will engage with global CEOs and leaders from Indian public and private sector companies.

Other key engagements will include the India-Arab Energy Dialogue, India-Japan Energy Roundtable, India-Iceland Roundtable on geothermal energy and CCUS, India-Netherlands Energy Roundtable, and dialogues with USIBC and USISPF to deepen India–US energy trade and investment ties.

Innovation and start-ups will be a major focus, with initiatives such as Avinya 2026 – the Startup Challenge, Vasudha 3.0 with global participation, and the Hackathon Challenge 2026 involving IITs and addressing critical energy challenges including AI-based exploration, energy efficiency, hydrogen and the circular economy.

Several knowledge products will also be launched during the event, including a white paper on Biofuels Financing, a Sustainable Aviation Fuel microsite, and the India Bioenergy Outlook 2030 by the IEA and PPAC.
