National Industrialization Company (Tasnee) has announced a planned periodic maintenance shutdown at the Saudi Ethylene and Polyethylene Company (SEPC), a joint venture of Tasnee Sahara Olefins Company (TSOC), in which Tasnee holds a 60% stake.

The shutdown, began on January 2, 2026, will coincide with the extended shutdown related to the Ethylene Cracker Expansion project.

According to Tasnee, the move follows “established technical and operational standards to ensure operational efficiency, safety, and production sustainability.” The downtime is expected to last approximately 66 days.

Tasnee emphasized that the shutdown is part of the company’s “scheduled operational plans, which aim to enhance operational efficiency, improve the plant's technical performance and complete the expansion process.”

Regarding financial implications, Tasnee said, “The financial impact on this scheduled shutdown will be reflected in the financial results of the first quarter of 2026, and its magnitude will depend on the company’s products prices and the actual duration of the shutdown.”

The company stressed it is taking all necessary precautions to minimize disruption: “The company is taking all necessary measures to minimize the financial and operational impact of the shutdown period by ensuring the readiness of its maintenance and operational teams. The company will announce any material developments as they occur.”
