NEXTCHEM bags two major fertilizer tech contracts in China

NEXTCHEM will provide the license and the process design package (PDP) for a new nitric acid plant

MAIRE has announced that NEXTCHEM, via its nitrogen technology licensor Stamicarbon, has landed two significant contracts in China, leveraging its proprietary technology portfolio to deliver practical, efficiency-driven solutions for the fertilizer industry.

NEXTCHEM will provide the license and the process design package (PDP) for a new nitric acid plant.

The project will deploy Stamicarbon’s advanced mono-pressure technology, part of the NX STAMI Nitrates series, which uses oxygen instead of air, boosting energy recovery and cutting operational costs. With roughly 80% of global nitric acid production dedicated to fertilizers, the technology promises to enhance both efficiency and sustainability across agricultural supply chains.

In addition, NEXTCHEM has signed a contract to license, provide the PDP, and deliver technical assistance for revamping a nitrogen fertilizer complex in Northern China. The upgrade of an existing urea plant, based on NX STAMI Urea technology, is designed to slash steam consumption, improve energy efficiency, and optimize both CAPEX and OPEX.

Fabio Fritelli, Managing Director of NEXTCHEM, said: “These two awards in China underscore NEXTCHEM’s ability to combine proprietary cutting-edge technologies with tangible efficiency gains for our clients. This is a clear testament to NEXTCHEM’s strategy aimed at accelerating a more sustainable and competitive fertilizer value chain while strengthening its long-term presence in key markets.”
